The Palisades Mall in West Nyack, NY was Insulation Company of America’s first geofoam project in 1997. Geofoam was the engineering solution for wet and unstable soil conditions. Geofoam is an expanded polystyrene (EPS) product that has been used abroad for many years. In 1997 it was a relatively new application for construction in the United States. ICA recognized the value of geofoam applications and was in the forefront working with the founding director of the Geofoam Research Center (GRC), Dr. Dawit Negussey, at Syracuse University. GRC continues to be the leader in development of standards and performance verifications of geofoam projects. ICA continues to be a leader in manufacturing geofoam.
