Geofoam backfill used in New Jersey Turnpike projectInsulation Company of America supplied the geofoam backfill for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority project. Ferreira Construction & Crisdel Group constructed the wall of precast concrete and geofoam. The design was needed to limit the amount of soil pressure on the adjacent electrical tower. Lightweight geofoam and fill were used to stabilize the precast wall. Beyond the limits of the precast wall section, the remainder of the backfill was geofoam. Geofoam gives strength without the weight of other fill materials which equates to saving time and money. Check out the video below that documents the project.

Do you have a civil engineering project in the works? Could Geofoam be the answer? For further information on using geofoam in technical applications, please read the Geofoam Applications Technical Data PDF provided by the EPS Industry Alliance.
