#ICASanta is Back for a Third Year
What does home mean to you? According to the dictionary, home is “the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household.”
But what if you don’t have a permanent home? What if you live in an environment with unsafe living conditions? How does this affect you and the well-being of your family? The consequences are many and Habitat for Humanity is committed to making a difference in our communities by making home ownership possible to low income families.
ICA is honored to launch our 3rd year as a Habitat supporter with our #ICASanta campaign.
For those of us that habitat a safe home, perhaps we take that for granted. Here is an opportunity to reflect on what life is like without that stability and support. It creates a huge impact on people’s lives, the communities within, and the future of our youth.
That is a big statement. How does home ownership make all that possible?
- Did you know children of homeowners are 25% more likely to graduate from high school and 116% more likely to graduate from college?
- Did you know that living in a home with updated heating and cooling decreases the risks of asthma, respiratory and heart disease?
- Did you know that building homes for ownership is also revitalizing neighborhoods, recreating the community and environment?
Habitat for humanity not only makes home ownership possible, it also creates empowered personal ownership. Habitat “offers a hand up, not a hand out”, which means each adult family member must contribute 250 hours of sweat equity by building their own homes, the homes of their neighbors, and/or volunteering at the office or ReStore. Something worked for is always valued more than something given.
How can you be a part of something so impactful? The #ICASanta campaign makes it easy and fun to support this amazing organization.
From now until January 3rd, you can post your Santa Selfies on social media with the hashtag #ICASanta or email them to icasanta@insulationcorp.com sporting your Santa beard. Not only will you be promoting awareness and helping us support Habitat for Humanity’s mission, you will also be eligible for $50 – $100 Amazon gift cards. Will you have the largest group photo? Or maybe the most festive or creative selfie? Perhaps you will find the best location or be the random winner! The more selfies you enter, the more chances to win!
