ICA Celebrates Truck Drivers

ICA CELEBRATES AMERICA’S TRUCK DRIVERS

At ICA we think Chris Spear, President and CEO of ATA, American Trucking Associations, stated this perfectly, “Truck drivers are an integral part of the nation’s growing economy and deserve to be celebrated by their companies, customers, neighbors, families and friends. Everything that we consume – groceries, school supplies, clothes, medicine – gets delivered by a truck driver whether it’s to your front door, your local market, or your workplace. These drivers improve our quality of life by dedicating themselves to safety and making every effort to deliver the things we need efficiently, professionally and responsibly.

ICA Purchaces New Truck Cabs We want to emphasize the importance of celebrating this profession. Where would we be without the 3.5 million professional truck drivers who deliver our goods coast to coast? According to the ATA, “More than 80% of U.S. communities rely exclusively on truck drivers to deliver their goods and commodities, including the most remote towns and territories that are unreachable by other modes of transportation.”

Not only is this profession responsible for delivering practically everything in our existence, it is also a huge impact on America’s economy. Did you know that there are 7.5 million people that are employed in jobs that directly relate to trucking activity? In addition to that, trucking transportation brings in billions of dollars in revenue and taxes. To see the impressive numbers for the trucking industry for 2017, please visit, Reports, Trends & Statistics by the ATA.

That in itself is humbling, but let’s get back to celebrating this profession and our ICA trucking team.

Who are you on the road? Are you being courteous and respectful to this profession that literally affects everything you eat or own? Are you willing to give them a right of way? Are you being considerate of the size and weight vehicle they are driving?

IT’S NATIONAL TRUCK DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK
Let’s Celebrate!

Let’s practice celebrating our drivers. The next time we feel a negative reaction to “getting caught” behind a truck, let’s remember how important they are and the long hours they are working away from home to provide a service to America.

Let’s celebrate our drivers by being a courteous driver and giving them the right of way. Think of them as the professionals they are, driving that huge truck and give consideration for the talent it deserves. Let’s practice that daily.

This week has been set aside to celebrate our truck drivers across the country for their services and their impact on our lives. If you don’t personally know a driver, that’s ok – a simple wave, smile or thumbs up as you pass by is appreciation enough.

We don’t know where we would be without our drivers! Thank you. If you haven’t heard our Make a Wish story, it’s worth a read.
