Make-A-Wish Convoy Recap

*** UPDATE: Wish Granted! ***

Our first time participating in this event has been amazing!! Santiago raised $2,625 (surpassing his ultimate goal of $2,500) and was able to make a 12-year-old girl’s wish to go to Disney World come true! We could not have done this without everyone’s donations and support. Her mother called us to personally thank ICA for making her autistic daughter’s dream possible, and for Santiago making the day so special for Ariyana – THANK YOU!!

Check out a recap of Santiago’s day in the video below!

Make A Wish Convoy Fox 43 Interview with ICA Driver

Santiago has surpassed his original fundraising goal and has set a new goal of $2500!! If you are able to donate, please click the button at the end of this post. A huge heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has donated and supported Santiago! Due to raising at least $1200, he was able to make a real wish come true and a little girl will be riding along with him on Sunday! Watch the video below to view his LIVE interview with Fox 43 News.

The profound effect the Make-A-Wish Foundation brings to the lives of these children and their families is magical, and the inspiration they provide to the world is truly life-changing. Please stay tuned for more news on this event as we get closer and thank you again!!

We also got a highlight in Transport Topics! Thank you, Daniel for reaching out to us! It was a pleasure working with you on this story!

2018 Make-A-Wish Mother’s Day Convoy – May 13th

His name was Matt. His one wish was to ride in a big rig truck and speak to his sister over the CB. That one single wish sparked the largest internal fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Mother’s Day Truck Convoy in Lancaster, PA is an event to be seen. Starting with Matt’s wish 28 years ago, this event has grown to 500 trucks raising money and giving over 100 kids rides. That’s over 100 wishes come true!

Make-A-Wish SantiagoThis event caught the attention of Santiago Gonzalez. Santiago is a professional truck driver with over 27 years of experience. He joined the ICA team about one and a half years ago. As something that spoke to his heart, Santiago shared this event with us, asking if he could use one of our trucks to participate in the 2018 convoy. Our answer – OF COURSE! As a dad of two sons and one daughter as well as grandfather to two grandsons, Santiago is especially fond of anything to do with kids. With one of his grandsons being autistic, Santiago is very compassionate to his needs and to those in similar situations.

Besides being a good dad and granddad, Santiago is also just an all-around good guy. The other day he surprised the ICA team with pizza for lunch. That was 10 pizzas!! We asked why and he said he was paying it forward. Santiago enjoys delivering pizza on the weekends for Lehigh Pizza in Bethlehem (who also has a Pay-It-Forward-Pizza Program benefiting the homeless). He explained how he delivered a large order to a church the other day and they invited him in. He prayed with them and they gave him a blessing and a collection of a very large tip. He decided to share his tip, pay it forward and bought us all lunch. What more can we say?!

So no, it doesn’t surprise us at all that Santiago wants to participate in the Make-A-Wish Convoy on May 13th. His seemingly simple acts of kindness have surely inspired us all here at ICA. We are so happy to share his story and hope it can inspire others as well. Please join us in participating by making a donation to Santiago’s goal of $700.00. As it is said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” ~ Aesop

I WILL DONATE!
